Edo 2020: Gov Wike Speaks On Working Against Obaseki, APC Crisis

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has denied reports that he worked against Governor Godwin Obaseki clinching the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.

In an interview with Arise Television, he disclosed that he only insisted everybody should be carried along in the state.

Governor Wike stated that if everybody was not carried along the party would have been embroiled in crisis like the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said before the defection of Obaseki to the party there were people in Edo State PDP who have been making sacrifices for the party.

Edo 2020: Ize-Iyamu Picks Running Mate

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has picked his running mate for the upcoming election.

Naija News reports that Ize-Iyamu picked Hon. Gani Audu, a former Chairman of Etsako West Local Government.

Audu is also a member representing Etsako West constituency 2 in the state House of Assembly.

Gov Obaseki Picks Running Mate For Edo Gov’ship Election

Governor Godwin Obaseki has picked his Deputy, Philip Shaibu as his running mate for the Edo Governorship election scheduled for September 19, 2020.

He confirmed this while receiving his certificate of return and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag at the National Headquarters of the party.

Obaseki who described his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate as a miracle, adding that “you don’t change a winning team”.

The Edo governor said: “My emergence as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the just concluded primary election is just the hand of God. It is miraculous. I and my deputy are grateful to this great party.

“In hours of tribulation in our political storm, PDP gave us a huge umbrella. This ought to be our first party because of the values of justice, fairness. We found out that transparency and quality of governance reign in this party.”
