The Oyo State government has modified the date and procedure for the planned resumption of school activities in the state which had been closed due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

According to some sources, the change in plans became necessary as the latest report available to the government indicates most schools are not ready yet to meet with the terms and conditions outlined for resumption.

To this end, barring any last minute change, Naija News understands only teachers are to resume on June 29th while students in terminal classes resume a week later.

It will be recalled as previously reported by this online medium that the government of Oyo State had earlier instructed students in terminal classes of primary six, JSS3 and SS3 to resume from Monday, June 29.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared that there is no fixed date for reopening of schools shut over coronavirus in Nigeria.

It further warned states that are planning to reopen schools to reconsider their options and ensure adequate provisions were put in place so that there won’t be an escalation of COVID-19 cases.
