The Police on Tuesday arraigned Olaniyi who resides in Elewi-Odo area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly sleeping with a pig.
A man identified as Ayokunbi Olaniyi has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly having sex with a pig in Ibadan.
The Police on Tuesday arraigned Olaniyi who resides in Elewi-Odo area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court.
He was charged with one count of unnatural offence.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Opeyemi Olagunju told the court that the defendant on April 2, at about 4 p.m at the above-stated location allegedly had sex with a pig against the order of nature.
Olagunju further stated that the defendant worked for one Mrs Adenike Taiwo on her pig farm in Elewi–Odo area of Ibadan.
According to the prosecution counsel, the offence contravened the provisions of Section 214 (2) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The counsel to the defendant, Mumin Jimoh, however, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms after he pleaded “not guilty” to the crime.
Jimoh further stated that Mrs Taiwo has forgiven the defendant, but the Chief Magistrate, Olaide Amzat in his ruling said the law must take its cause.
“If the owner has forgiven the defendant, has God forgiven him or the pig has forgiven him?”
“The defendant will be given bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum,” he added.
He adjourned the matter until July 21, for hearing.
