COVID-19: FG Evacuates 315 Nigerians From UAE, Senegal

The Federal Government of Nigeria has evacuated 315 Nigerians stranded in the United Arab Emirates and Senegal following the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

The development was revealed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, on his Twitter account.

The Minister in the post noted that 298 nationals were evacuated from the UAE while 17 citizens were evacuated from Senegal.

Onyema further stated that the evacuees tested negative for COVID-19 and would undergo 14-day self-isolation as well as get tested for the virus again.

He wrote, “Earlier today, an @emirates flight conveying another 298 of our nationals departed UAE for Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.”

“On arrival, all evacuees will undergo the mandatory 14 days self-isolation according to the new evacuation protocol by Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.”

“17 Nigerian evacuees from Senegal arrived Abuja with @AirSenegal.”
