Court Gives Obaseki Freedom To Participate In PDP Primaries

Governor, Godwin Obaseki has gotten a court approval to participate in the upcoming primary governorship election of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP)  slated for Thursday.

Naija News reported that Mr Obaseki had earlier been stopped by the court from contesting the election for allegedly submitting questionable certificates.

Mr Ogbeide-Ihama who instigated the case against the governor accused the governor of failure to meet up with the timeline stipulated to purchased the required forms to contest in the primary election.

Court Stops PDP From Conducting Edo 2020 Governorship Primaries

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, has stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from conducting its governorship primaries in Edo State, southern Nigeria ahead of the Edo 2020 election scheduled for September.

Naija News reports that the Edo PDP Primary election was slated Thursday, June 25 before the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court took the decision to halt the primaries.

The decision of the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court to stop the PDP from conducting the Edo governorship primaries follows a suit brought before the court on Monday by one of the governorship aspirants of the PDP, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who had vowed not to step down for Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The PDP governorship aspirant for the Edo 2020 election had insisted that Governor Obaseki did not purchase PDP form or undergo screening within the time-table schedule, stressing that since Obaseki was not part of the candidates screened by the PDP National Working Committee, initially before the date on the timetable lapsed, he should not be allowed to participate in the primaries.

EDO 2020: Ize Iyamu Emerges APC Governorship Flag-Bearer

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has been elected as the governorship flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) In Edo State for the September 2020 election.

Naija News Understands that Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma declared Ize-Iyamu winner of the direct primary defeating Pius Odubu and Osaro Obazee.

According to report gathered Ize-Iyanmu pulled 27,838 votes, while his closest rival, Dr Pius Odubu scored 3,776, while Mr Osaro Obaze pulled 2,751 votes.
