Nigerian Governors Forum Was Created To Speak Against Constitutional Infractions – Wike Says

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has once again attacked Fayemi led governors forum as Rotimi Akeredolu’s deputy Agboola Ajayi dumps the ruling all Progressive Congress Party for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Speaking via his Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, Wike berated the silence culture of the Nigerian governor’s forum over political infringement of some public officer holder who uses their political power at their hands to punish anyone who is not in favour of their policies.

Nsirim while speaking on behalf of Wike condemned the Ondo State police commissioner, Salami Bolaji for the allegedly detaining the state Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi for several hours for allegedly dumping the all progressive congress party. He also called on the Nigerian governors to rise to the occasion and demand that those behind the actions that bother on the infringement of constitutional rights be brought to book.

He said, “The Nigeria Governors’ Forum should rise to the occasion and demand that those behind actions that bother on the infringement of constitutional rights be brought to book
“I will continue to say the truth, it does not matter which political party is erring. Look at the police reducing themselves to a level where politicians will now send them to infringe on the right of a deputy governor without regards to the fact that he has immunity.

Wike went further via his official twitter handle to asked a rhetorical question of what the business of Salami Bolaji the Police Boss in Ondo with partisan politics.

However, in reaction to the post, the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose also berated the police Boss for detaining the Deputy of the state.

Fayose while speaking via his twitter handle said that  Even if the Deputy Governor is decamping to another party, does that give the Police Commissioner right to hold him hostage? Is there any law in this country, permitting police to prevent a Dep Gov from using his official vehicles just because he is changing political party?
