Agboola Backs Down, Agrees To Return Official Vehicles

The deputy governor of Ondo state, Mr Agboola Ajayi, has warned against a repeat of what happened in the state in 1983.

He made the statement during a faceoff with security operatives led by the state commissioner of police, Bolaji Salami.

The deputy governor had confronted the was detained last night by the Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami who led security operatives on the order of the state governor,  Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu to prevent Mr Ajayi from leaving the Government House premises.

He questioned why the police were used against him stating that such actions can result in a repeat of the 1983 saga was when violence erupted in the state following the crisis between Pa Michael Ajasin, the first civilian governor of the state and his deputy, Akin Omoboriowo.

In the video obtained by Naija News, the commissioner was heard saying “ your are already defecting, even your letter was brought to me this evening, you are defecting on Monday”. The deputy governor interjected and asked how his (Salami) decision to defect was a concern of the Police commissioner. He said: Are you not a police officer? If I am leaving the state House, what is your concern about it? Are you an APC or PDP chairman?

“Do you know how many hours I have spent here (at the gate )? I don’t understand. I personally paid for this vehicle, not even the government.

“That is the reason you shouldn’t have put yourself in this mess because it is totally a mess.

“Why would police be used for God’s sake? My brother, let me tell you, you people cannot repeat what happened in 1983 in Ondo State and it is unfortunate that they want to use the police to cause this but Ondo State people will resist you with everything.”
