Nigeria Condemns Attacks On Its High Commission In Ghana

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has condemned the demolition of a section of the staff quarters of the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana.

Onyeama reacted to the incident via his Twitter handle on Sunday and urged the Ghanaian government to take immediate action and find the perpetrators.

According to reports, a Ghanaian businessman had accused the Nigerian High Commission of encroaching his land by erecting staff quarters on it and showed documents to prove his claims

The unnamed man reportedly returned with bulldozers on Friday and began to pull down the buildings.

Onyeama tweeted: “We strongly condemn two outrageous criminal attacks in Accra, Ghana, on a residential building in our diplomatic premises by unknown persons in which a bulldozer was used to demolish the building.

“We are engaging the Ghanaian Government and demand urgent action to find the perpetrators and provide adequate protection for Nigerians and their property in Ghana.”

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa also added her voice to condemn the “insult”. “The attack on the Nigerian mission in Ghana overnight is an insult to Nigeria. The Min of Foreign Affairs” she tweeted on her official handle.
