Chad Republic Begs Buhari’s Government For Electricity Supply

While most residents in the country still lament over poor supply of electricity to their areas, the Chadian ambassador to Nigeria, Abakar Saleh Chachaimi has begged President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government to allow for his country to be connected to Nigeria’s electricity grid.

The federal government of Nigeria has been begged to share its electrical power with the Chad Republic.

While most residents in the country still lament over poor supply of electricity to their areas, the Chadian ambassador to Nigeria, Abakar Saleh Chachaimi has begged President Muhammadu Buhari‘s led government to allow for his country to be connected to Nigeria’s electricity grid.

According to Daily Trust, Chachaimi had made his request known to the Nigerian government at a meeting with Nigeria’s minister of power, Sale Mamman in Abuja.

Reacting to the envoy’s request which claimed that connecting Chad to Nigeria’s electricity would further strengthen the historical and economic bond between both countries, Mamman, noted that the government will have to evaluate his request for possible approval.

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, has hinted that implementation of the new electricity tariff will commence in July 2020 as earlier proposed by the government.

According to him, while speaking at the senate-house on Tuesday, June 16, the tariff increase which was delayed for three months due to the impact of dreadful COVID-19 pandemic will begin from July 2020.
