Lagos Flood: Four-Year-Old Girl Missing After Heavy Downpour

The heavy downpour witnessed in Lagos State on the early hour of Thursday, June 18 has left a home in commotion after reports revealed that a young girl was swept away by the flood.

Naija News understands that Agungi, Lekki, Ibeju-Lekki, Emmanuel Aina street, Aboru areas in Lagos were strongly affected with the flood which happened today.

According to the report, the young girl, Azeezat, 4, drowned around Olabode Street, in the Papa-Asafa area of Orile in Agege, Lagos State.

Residents of the affected areas lament in tears as the heavy flood reportedly damaged valuable properties, swept away buildings. However, the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, has said that rescue team has launched a search to locate the missing victim.

He said, “A response team from the agency has immediately commenced the search and rescue after reports of a four-year-old child being carried away by the flood were received by witnesses.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) warned owners and administrators of some primary and secondary schools against reopening.
