Edo 2020: PDP Leaders Meet Over Obaseki’s Defection (See Details)

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Thursday, today, meet to discuss the impending defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu.

A PDP source revealed that the meeting was scheduled to consider the reports from the various leaders of the party that the governor has met with in the last five days.

Naija News recalls that Governor Obaseki had resigned on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obaseki had met with Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) at the weekend.

It was also gathered that the Edo State governor on Wednesday night met with the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal.

The meeting was held at the Abuja residence of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike, in Asokoro.

The two PDP leaders and some others in attendance reportedly gave the Edo State governor assurances of their support.

Another issue discussed was the fate of Obaseki’s deputy and others who would join the PDP with him.
