The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado Ekiti Local Government, Michael Akinleye has disagreed with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) over its choice of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the party’s acting National Chairman.

Akinyele argued that Ajimobi is not fit to occupy the party’s National Chairmanship position as his election as the APC Deputy National Chairman (South) is still a matter before the court of law.

He, therefore, threatened to take further legal action against the appointment of Ajimobi as Acting National Chairman of the APC.

Naija News recalls the National Chairmanship seat of the APC became vacant on Tuesday following the order of an Abuja Appeal Court which upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole from office.

After the court judgment, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) chose Senator Ajimobi to take over in acting capacity as the party’s National Chairman.

But Akinleye in a letter on Wednesday through his lawyer, Tunde Oke has now objected the party’s decision to appoint Abiola Ajimobi as Acting National Chairman.

He also threatened to head to court to challenge the party’s decision which he described as “outright nullity and contempt of court”.

Akinleye told the NWC that there is a pending case with suit No. FHC/AD/CS/8/2020 before the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti on Ajimobi’s emergence as the APC Deputy National Chairman, hence his emergence as the acting National Chairman is null and void.

The letter recalled that, “at the time when the suit was instituted by our Client, Ajimobi’s name had not been purportedly recognized by the National Working Committee of APC”.

“However, during the pendency of the Suit when appearance had been entered for all the Defendants, our attention was drawn to several newspaper publications that the National Working Committee of APC has announced Sen. Abiola Ajimobi’s name as the Deputy National Chairman (South).”

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that Hilliard Etta has been approved by the APC leadership to act as the Acting National Chairman on behalf of Ajimobi, who is reportedly battling some health challenges.
