English Premier League board has again warned club supporters not to bother coming close to stadiums as the 2019/2020 season restarts today.

In a statement by EPL chief executive, Richard Masters, club supporters are warned to follow up with the matches on their TV screens as games will be made free on-air due to the current development.

According to Masters, games will be played behind-closed-doors as earlier proposed, warns that some strict measures could be adopted should supporters turn up at stadiums. Naija News understands that the warning was issued following concerns from the security operatives against mass gatherings near match venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Fans are going to get some very clear messages from their clubs, from the managers and club captains about staying away and watching at home,” Masters noted.

He added, “That’s why all the matches are on TV and many of them on a wider distribution, free-to-air basis. We think the messaging is going to be very clear, we’re very hopeful there won’t be any incidents and gatherings outside football matches,”

Naija News understands that Aston Villa will be hosting Sheffield United at the Villa Park on Wednesday evening at 18:00, while Manchester City will face Arsenal at 20:00 Nigerian time.
