President Muhammadu Buhari has again, boast on the capability of the Nigeria Armed Forces in ending the activities of bandits in the Northern region.

According to the President in a press release dated Tuesday, June 16, the Nigerian military has recorded a tremendous victory in the past and will again do more if more time is given to them.

Naija News understands that President Buhari in the statement, signed by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity confirmed the approval of a joint military, police operation across five northern states most affected with banditry attacks.

The statement reads; “The Presidency assures Nigerians, again, that the nation’s armed forces are fully capable of dealing with the challenges of banditry and terrorism, urging more patience as the military takes appropriate steps to block gaps being exploited to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari, who has approved a joint military and police operation specifically targetted at combing Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto State to rid the area of bandits, assures that surveillance will be improved, with more night vision aircraft already deployed under ‘Operation Accord.”

“The operation was launched weeks ago,” Shehu noted.

Speaking on efforts of the Nigeria military force over the years, Shehu said, “Nigeria’s military has displayed its capabilities in the past and will show it again by dealing with the current challenges,” the president says.”

He added, “President Buhari appeals to people of Katsina State to be patient and supportive of the ongoing military operations in the state while sympathising with those who are bereaved, injured and lost properties.”

“President Buhari admonishes that taking to the streets for protest could distract the military operations, urging Katsina indigene not to give up on the military who over the years have a strong track record of quelling crises once given enough time.”

President Buhari reiterated, “The major forests in North-Western Nigeria have been identified as home to the bandits in the region. The operation will clear all these forests.”

In another news, the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Edo State has labelled Governor Godwin Obaseki with series of names as the governorship aspirant announced his resignation from the party.
