Former Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo has called for an end to godfatherism in Nigerian politics.

This is coming few hours after the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain endorsed Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State for a second term in office.

The former Accountant General of the Federation made this call in a statement released on his Twitter account a few minutes after Obaseki dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Governor Obaseki officially resigned from APC after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

Dankwambo in his reaction said political godfatherism will rob Nigerians of those meant to serve and hinder national development.

He tweeted, “Political godfatherism stunts economic growth. It encourages a system that robs Peter (the Masses) to pay Paul (the godfathers).”

“Our governance system must allow power to return back to the people, so we can chart a new course for local and national development.”
