Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has confirmed his resignation from the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The embattled governor, in a tweet on his microblogging site on Tuesday affirmed his exit from Nigeria’s ruling party following decisions that evicted him from participating in the forthcoming primary election of the party.

Naija News understands that Obaseki’s resignation from the APC comes after his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari and his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari at the State House a few hours ago.

Speaking on his exit from the party, Obaseki declared his commitment to continue to fight in the interest of citizens in the state.

He said, “I have officially resigned my membership of the All Progressives Congress (@OfficialAPCNg) after meeting with the CoS to @MBuhari.”

“We shall continue the battle to protect the interest of Edo people and sustain good governance in the state.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian activist, Deji Adeyanju has urged Governor Obaseki to fight against godfatherism in Edo State and not to be a coward as the former governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode.
