President Muhammadu Buhari, in a bid to end the activities of bandits in the North, approved a joint military, police operation across five northern states most affected.

According to the report confirmed in a tweet on Tuesday, June 16 by Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant to the president on New Media, the joint operation was approved for Niger State, Katsina, Kaduna, Sokoto and Zamfara State. 

President Buhari assures that good surveillance will be made available and as well more aircraft, in other to bring to end banditry in the northern region of the country.

The statement reads; “President @MBuhari has approved a joint military and police operation targeted at Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto States to rid the areas of bandits, assures that surveillance will be improved, with more night vision aircrafts already deployed under ‘Operation Accord”

Meanwhile, the defence headquarters has revealed that several bandits have been killed after an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday in Katsina State.

The bombing operation was carried out after intelligence reports showed that some huts in the area were been used by the armed bandits to carry out their operations, Naija News reports.
