The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the decision by Governor Godwin Obaseki to formally dump the party.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that Obaseki on Tuesday, announced his decision to formally resign from the APC.

However, in its immediate reaction to the development, the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu said the party is not aware of the development.

He added that the party can’t react to media rumours as it was yet to get any official communication on the Governor’s resignation from the party.

Onilu said this in response to enquiries on the Governor’s decision on Tuesday.

“The party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Progressive party. We cannot comment at this moment on media reports suggesting the Edo governor or anyone else has left our great party”, he said.

Naija News reports Obaseki is yet to reveal his next party after announcing his decision to dump the APC.

Before dumping the APC, Obaseki had been screened out of participating in the party governorship primary scheduled for June 22.
