Federal Government Denies Missing N23 billion in SDGs Office

The Federal Government has debunked the report of alleged missing funds from the office of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which was allegedly traced to the personal account of former staff.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, (OSSAP-SDGs) Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire online and social media reports are mischievous and unfounded.

Speaking further Orelope-Adefulire revealed that the reckless publications would have been ignored but for the need to set the records straight and put an end to the mischievous publications

“On the transfer of staff from the office, it is pertinent to state that it is completely the prerogative and responsibility of the pool ministry or office to redeploy any of their staff seconded to any Ministry, Department or Agency in line with extant rules and guidelines. It is, therefore, a misrepresentation of facts for anyone to interpret this as an attempt to cover-up.

She also restated the commitment of her office to discharging its core mandate, including the fight against corruption and promised not to bow to pressure and distractions in achieving the SDGs in Nigeria. It advised members of the public to disregard the misleading publications whose objective is to malign the office and spread falsehood.

Naija News learnt that the human rights group has requested through a Freedom of Information Act (FoI) urged the Federal Government to publish a comprehensive list of names of people from whom N800 billion in looted funds have been recovered, the details of spending of the money and the dates of the recovery.
