Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has allegedly dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News recalls that Obaseki was on Friday disqualified by the APC screening committee for the Edo governorship primary.

Jonathan Ayuba, chairman of the screening committee, confirmed this while presenting his report to Adams Oshiomhole, APC national chairman, at the national secretariat in Abuja.

Obaseki was disqualified by the screening committee on the grounds that his HSC and NYSC certificates are defective.

After his disqualification from the governorship primaries, sources told Daily Post that Obaseki collected his PDP membership card at Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

The source also claimed that the Edo State governor will join the PDP with all the 18 local government chairmen in Edo State alongside 12 lawmakers in the State Assembly.

It was gathered that Governors elected on the platform of the PDP will visit Obaseki this weekend to welcome him to the party.

A former House of Representatives candidate and a member of the PDP said the governor had no choice but to pitch his tent with the opposition party.

“If the APC does not know what they have in the person of Gov Obaseki and they decided to disqualify him, so be it.

“If I were him, I will move quickly to the opposition party, which is the PDP and we will be very much happy to have him.

“How can one man be deciding for Edo people?” She queried.
