1. FG To Give More Funds And Palliatives To Communities With Highest Cases Of COVID-19

Communities that have been worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria will be prioritized to receive more funds and palliatives from the federal government.

This was confirmed by the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq.

2. Smart Adeyemi Floors Dino Melaye At Kogi West Senatorial Tribunal

The tribunal hearing the dispute arising from the outcome of the Kogi West senatorial District election has given its verdict in favour of Senator Smart Adeyemi.

The tribunal in its ruling on Wednesday, dismissed the petition by Dino Melaye and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

3. 69 Persons Killed, Many Animals Rustled As Boko Haram Strikes Again In Borno State

Not less than 69 persons have been reported killed in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists who stormed a village in the state on Tuesday afternoon.

The terrorists struck at Foduma Kolomaiya village, 11 kilometres away from Gazaure town of Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

4. COVID-19: NYSC Reveals Plans To Commence 2020 Batch ‘A’ Orientation Camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it is awaiting a go ahead from the Presidential Task Force (PTF) to commence the 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Orientation Course, which was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This was made known by the Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim when he paid a courtesy visit to his counterpart of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, in Abuja.

5. Reps Pass Revised Budget, Approve Buhari’s $5.5bn Loan

The House of Representatives on Wednesday, passed the revised 2020 Appropriation Bill, raising the national budget from the proposed N10.5tn to N10.8tn.

The Committees on Appropriations and Finance had advised the house to consider and adopt N10,801,544,664,642, at the plenary on Wednesday but the lawmakers inserted an additional N4bn for the welfare of members of the National Association of Resident Doctors who have threatened strike.

6. Ohanaeze Begs Atiku To Drop 2023 Presidential Ambition, Support Igbos

The apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to drop plans to contest the 2023 Presidential Election.

Naija News recalls that Atiku’s son, Adamu Abubakar, had revealed that his father will run for president again in 2023.

7. Bandits Kill 40 In Fresh Katsina Attack

Suspected bandits have killed more than 40 people in an attack on Kadisau village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A security source told The Cable that the attack on the community happened on Tuesday evening.

8. Biafra: Shehu Sani Tells FG Only Way It Can Defeat IPOB

The former Senator who represented Kaduna central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has advised the federal government on how it can handle those pushing for Nigeria’s breakup.

Speaking generally about those who support secession but with particular reference to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sani noted that the government must project fairness and justice if it wants to end the calls for Nigeria’s secession.

The Senate on Wednesday promised to fast-track the confirmation of the Acting President, Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday forwarded Dongban-Mensem’s name to the lawmakers for confirmation.
