1. Protest Rocks Katsina Over Bandits Attacks

Residents of Yantumaki town, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State have taken to the streets to protest against killing by bandits in the town and other communities.

Naija News reports that the protesters barricaded the Katsina/Kankara major highway and blocked the road leading to the town with used tyres, dried trees and debris.

2. Covid-19: FG To Pay Health Workers Hazard Allowance Finally

Health workers on the frontline, battling the COVID-19 pandemic, have been assured of getting paid two months hazard allowance.

The assurance was given by the Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, while speaking at a meeting between representatives of the Federal Government and Health Professional Associations.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has reportedly taken some steps against the political moves by Rauf Aregbesola, Nigeria’s interior minister and former governor of Osun State.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala‘s nomination as one of the candidates for the office of the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), has been accepted by the organisation.

“Nigeria, on 9 June 2020, nominated Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the post of WTO Director-General to succeed the current Director-General, Mr Roberto Azevêdo, who has announced he will step down on 31 August 2020,” the organisation said on its website.

The Kaduna State Government led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai has opened the northern state after 75days Coronavirus lockdown.

Speaking to newsmen in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Monday, Senator Ndume said civil servants who no longer go to work due to the COVID-19 pandemic should get a pay-cut.

The President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza, has been declared dead, according to the government, he died at age 55 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The government in a statement released noted that he was admitted to hospital on Saturday after feeling unwell.
