The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has announced the arrest of two men with possession of thirty-six automated teller machines.

According to reports, the two adults have been involved in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public in the capital city of the state, Minna.

Confirming the arrest, spokesman of the state’s police command, Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement made available to newsmen revealed that the two were arrested while loitering within the premises of a commercial bank in Minna.

He stated that 36 ATM cards among other items recovered from them must have been stolen from the member of the public in the pretence of helping them to operate the ATM machine or set up a bank account.

Naija News learnt that Victor Okebugwu, 32, and James Amaonye, 33, were caught by police Intelligence operatives attached to the unnamed commercial bank in the state capital. Picked up while attempting to carry out another operation as usual.

Other items recovered from the two are; 33 pieces of GT Bank ATM cards, 2 Access Bank ATM card, 1 Zenith Bank,  ATM card, 7 pieces of MTN Sim cards, 9 pieces of 9mobile Sim cards, 8 pieces of Airtel Sim cards, 4 pieces of GT, bank account opening forms, 19 pieces of Airtel and 9 mobile customer registration forms, 1 Tecno black phone, 1 Infinix S5 phone and a Motorcycle key.

However, the two suspects confessed to the police that the cards were collected from their game betting clients so they could be credited for their winnings and thereafter unlawfully withdraw their money.

ASP Abiodun, however, disclosed that the command has commenced thorough investigations on the activities of the two, adding that they will be charged to court after findings.

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported that the longtime dilapidated road of the ancient city of Zungeru, a town in Niger State has been fixed and now motorable for residents and travellers going through Bida-Kontagora and Minna via the old city.
