The former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, and governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the previous election in River State, Dakuku Peterside, has alleged that challenges faced by the Nigerian ruling party in the state are occasioned by non-party members.

Naija News understands that Dakuku made the statement while fuming against a High Court ruling in Port Harcourt yesterday which declared Igo Aguma as the legitimate Chairman of the APC in the State.

According to Dakuku, the court ruling is nothing but a miscarriage of justice, adding that the ruling was not in any way far from his expectation. He, however, assured members that the party will again overcome evil plot by people interfering with APC in the state.

Responding to newsmen on Tuesday after the court session, Dakuku noted that the court has in its understanding declared Igo as the right candidate even though the case is not well sorted.

Naija News understands that Igo had earlier presented a case suit before the Port-Harcourt High Court to challenge the composition of the caretaker committee in the State by the APC National Working Committee.

He said, “I urge all true members of APC under the leadership of Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi not to despair nor be discouraged but continue to have abiding faith in God and our democratic institutions to restore the glory of our party, which will take over the leadership of the state and restore sanity in governance.

The APC chieftain added, “No amount of gang-up or manipulation of institutions by enemies of APC and Rivers State will succeed because they do not have the support of God of justice and the moral force of the law behind them.”

“I am confident that the Appeal Court will correct the miscarriage of justice witnessed today. Our lawyers upon instructions of leadership have already filed an appeal and motions for stay of execution immediately after the judgments were delivered.”

Meanwhile, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has debunked reports of a rift between him and the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
