Biafra: Shehu Sani Tells FG Only Way It Can Defeat IPOB

The former Senator who represented Kaduna central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has advised the federal government on how it can handle those pushing for Nigeria’s breakup.

Speaking generally about those who support secession but with particular reference to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sani noted that the government must project fairness and justice if it wants to end the calls for Nigeria’s secession.

The lawmaker noted that if all Nigerians are treated with fairness irrespective of tribe or religion, separatist groups would stop demanding for Nigeria’s breakup.

Naija News recalls the Presidency recently alleged that the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB is plotting to stir a global apathy against Nigeria by falsely claiming that Christians are being persecuted, a claim already refuted by the group.

The group had been at the forefront of agitations to actualize the sovereign state of Biafra by breaking away from Nigeria, but its moves have so far been resisted by the government.

However, Sani in a Facebook post is quoted as telling the government project unconditional love, justice, and fairness if the separatist groups such as IPOB and many others are to be brought under control.

He wrote: “The only way to defeat the Igbo man who supports the IPOB is to treat the Igbo man who supports Nigeria with fairness and justice and to treat all Nigerians with fairness and Justice.

“As long as we would continue to run a nation and a system where a collective punishment is meted on a people because of their political decision or history, we are simply emboldening the secessionists and their sympathizers.

“Love those who hold the national flag to crush those who reject the national flag so that our great country can withstand all subversions.”
