A total of nine government officials have been confirmed positive for coronavirus infection in Gombe State.
Those who tested positive for the COVID-19 infection include three members of the Gombe State Executive Council, a Special Adviser to the Governor, and five legislators in the State House of Assembly.
The state task force on COVID-19 confirmed the development on Tuesday, noting that the nine officials infected were among 63 cases who tested positive for COVID-19 out of the 609 samples taken in the past four days.
Prof. Idris Mohammed, Chairman of the task force gave the updates while briefing journalists.
He warned the residents of the state to adhere to instructions from health experts even as the state enters the community transmission stage of the virus.
Meanwhile, Nigeria on Tuesday recorded its highest daily cases of confirmed coronavirus infection with the announcement by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) that six hundred and sixty-three new cases of the virus have been confirmed in the country.
