2023: Abia Governor, Ikpeazu Speaks On Dumping PDP

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

This was announced in a statement on Monday by the state commissioner of information, John Okiyi Kalu.

The Abia information commissioner disclosed that Governor Ikpeazu had gone into self-isolation.

He added that the deputy governor has been directed to act on the governor’s behalf pending the time he resumes duty.

Kalu said: “Consequent on the above, the Governor has directed his Deputy, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, to act on his behalf pending his full resumption of duties.

“We wish to urge all Abians to take the fight against COVID-19 serious as the disease is real but not a death sentence. Our state has the resources to manage patients back to good health.”

Naija News reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed two hundred and sixty new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The health agency released the new update on its verified official account on the microblogging site on Sunday, June 7. The new update brings the total number of COVID-19 pandemic in the country to 12486.

3959 patients have been discharged and declared free of the dreadful disease while 354 persons confirmed dead so far, Naija News understands.
