1. Nigeria Records 328 COVID-19 Cases, 121 In Lagos (See Breakdown)

Nigeria has recorded 328 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the West African country. Naija News reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed this in a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Friday evening, June 5.

2. “This President Is Not In Charge Of This Nation” – Soyinka Slams Buhari

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has cried out that the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari is not in charge of affairs of the country. Soyinka was reacting to an open letter written by Col. Umar Dangiwa, a retired officer and former military administrator of Kaduna State.

3. COVID-19: Nigerian Govt.Threatens To Close Down Religious Centres

The Federal government has said it would not delay in reviewing the reopening of churches and mosques if people fail to adhere to the laid down guide. Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, made this know yesterday, during their daily briefing in Abuja.

4. Bank Robbery: Police IG Deploys IRT, STS, FSARS To Kogi State

The Intelligence Response Team, the Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Federal-SARS Crack Detectives has been deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, following the bank robbery in Isanlu, Kogi State, and attack on a police station which led to the death of police personnel on duty. The IGP while calling for the apprehension of the robbers, also reviewed the Security Architecture in Kogi State.

7. United Nations: Nigeria May Lose 24 Local Councils To New West African Country

Nigeria might lose twenty-four local governments in Borno state to the United Nations newly created Country by July 10 due to a joint agreement signed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Paul Biya of Cameroon. According to a report by the Guardian, the LGAs were ceded to Cameroon in 2013 and would form part of a new State being formed by the United Nations on the border the Republic of Cameroon.

Less than 17 days to the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Edo State, the party has disclosed names of aspirants to be screened ahead of the governorship election scheduled for September. Announcing on Friday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu in a statement noted that all the aspirants are dully certified for the exercise.
