Just In: APC Names 6 Aspirants For Edo Governorship Screening

Less than 17 days to the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Edo State, the party has disclosed names of aspirants to be screened ahead of the governorship election scheduled for September.

Announcing on Friday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu in a statement noted that all the aspirants are dully certified for the exercise.

Lanre reiterates that the aspirants have bought, completed, and submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms for the primary election scheduled for June 22.

The aspirants include the present state Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, Pius Odubu, Chris Ogiemwonyi, Osaro Obazee, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and Matthew Aigbuhuenze Iduoriyekemwen, Naija News learnt.

The party boasted that it will not condone lapses in the process as it was in previous cases. Adding that diligence and transparency in the screening exercise will be maintained.

“Therefore, we are making the submitted information and documents of the governorship aspirants available to our party members and the public for verification of claims and to support the screening panel with information or any objection to the claims contained in the submission by the aspirants,” APC noted.

While the party scheduled screening of the named aspirants for Wednesday, 10th to 11th June 2020, it urges its members and the general public to help the screening committee by validating credentials and documents made available by the aspirants.

Meanwhile, Naija News has reported that at least 10,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Kwara North Senatorial district of the state, have yesterday moved to the camp of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
