21 People Killed, Many Injured As Bandits Attack Zamfara State

A recent attack by suspected bandits on residents of some villages located in some Local Government Areas of Zamfara State has resulted in the death of many people.

It was also gathered that no less than 12 others were injured during the attack which left 21 people dead.

The bandits attacked some villages in Maru and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of the state between the 2nd and 3rd of June, 2020.

Spokesman of the Zamfara State Police Command, Mohammed Shehu confirmed the attacks took place in Tungar Malan, Manyan Karaje, Tungar Arne, Dangodon Maiyakane, Dangodon Mai Masallaci and Boleke villages of Maru Local Government Area.

The bandits were said to have arrived the villages with the intention to rustle cattle but met resistance from a militia group known as “YAN SAKAI”.

The scuffle that ensued between the two parties resulted in the death of 15 people and also left 7 people hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries.

Similarly, attacks on Gidan Dan Kani, Tungar lauti, Inwala and Dangodo in Talata Mafara Local Government also resulted in the death of 6 persons and injury to 5 others.

The Police have confirmed that an investigation has been launched to apprehend those responsible for the killings.
