1. AGF Takes Over Case Of Alleged Taraba Kidnap Kingpin, Wadume, Others

The prosecution of the alleged Taraba kidnap kingpin, Bala Hamisu (aka Wadume) has been taken over by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, (AGF).

This was confirmed on Wednesday at the resumed hearing of the case by Mr Shuaibu Labaran, a lawyer from the Ministry of Justice.

2. Rape: Atiku Reacts To Uwaila’s Death, Calls For Review Of Rape Laws

Former Vice President and presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has joined the host of other concerned Nigerians to condemn sexual violations of the female gender.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain called for adequate protection of women against defilement and other forms of violence.

3. Orji Kalu Walks Out Of Prison

Orji Uzor Kalu, former Abia State Governor has been set free from prison, few months after he was sent to prison.

Recall Naija News reported that Justice Liman of the Federal High Court, Lagos, had on Tuesday ordered Kalu’s release.

4. COVID-19: Nigeria Records 348 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported three hundred and forty-eight confirmed new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The agency disclosed the details on its verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, June 3. The new update brings the overall number of confirmed cases of the novel virus in Nigeria to 11166.

5. Edo 2020: Stay Clear Of APC Primaries, Obaseki Warns Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has been warned by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to stay clear of the party’s governorship primaries in Edo State.

Obaseki stated this on Wednesday, in Abuja while speaking with newsmen after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat.

6. Top Commanders Killed As Nigerian Army And Boko Haram Fighters Clash

Troops of the Nigerian Army have inflicted heavy casualties on members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, killing some of their top commanders.

This was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday on the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army.

7. Ondo 2020: We Did Not Endorse Akeredolu As Our Governorship Candidate – APC NWC

The battle of who will be picked as the All Progressive Congress party candidate in the upcoming governorship election in the oil-rich Yoruba state (Ondo) has gotten more intense.

Naija News recalls that a recent report suggested that the incumbent Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu got an endorsement from the national working committee of the ruling party as the most preferred candidate however the party has denied ever giving such approval.

8. Many Killed As Bandits Hit Kaduna Village In Fresh Attack

Suspected bandits have attacked Avong Doka village in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State killing nine people and injuring many others.

Naija News reports that gunmen had last week burnt down several houses at a Rural Grazing Area settlement in Agwala Dutse village also in Kajuru local government area.

9. Justice For Uwa: IGP Orders Force-CID To Take Over Investigations

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the ongoing investigations into the inhuman sexual assault and death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omosuwa which occurred recently in Benin, Edo State from the Police State Headquarters, Benin to the Force headquarters, Abuja.

The IGP’s directive is sequel to the preliminary report from the team of investigators and forensic experts earlier deployed to assist the Edo State Police Command in the investigations into the unfortunate incident.

10. Henceforth, FG Will Not Refund State Govts For Repairing FG Roads – Lai Mohammed

Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, has said states would no longer be refunded for construction or repair works carried out on federal roads.

This Mohammed stated while he was addressing state house correspondents after the third virtual meeting of the federal executive council (FEC) on Wednesday.
