The Kwara State government has announced the discharge of seven COVID-19 patients who have recovered and tested negative to the virus.

This development was communicated to newsmen in a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor/Spokesman, Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020.

The statement noted that while it is heartwarming to know that people are recovering from the infection, residents of the state need to remain cautious and continue to adhere to guidelines put in place by health experts to curb further spread of the virus.

“I am glad to inform you that we are again discharging seven of our COVID-19 patients who have twice tested negative. All the remaining patients are stable and doing well — thanks to the government’s efforts and the commitment of our healthcare officials who are doing so well to keep the flag flying,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, as previously reported by Naija News, the Kwara State government has announced the easing of the ban on religious gatherings earlier imposed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government however handed down a note of warning that lifting the ban is not a confirmation that the coronavirus pandemic has been overcome.

Announcing the development, the state government on Wednesday said worship centres may reopen from Friday, June 5 on the condition that they satisfy certain criteria already agreed with various religious umbrella bodies in the state.

The decision came hours after the Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 held a marathon meeting with the leadership of the Muslim and Christian communities, including the Jama’atu Nasrul Islam (JNI) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
