Why We Can’t Shift Edo, Ondo Governorship Elections – INEC says

The fate of both Ondo and Edo indigenes with regards to whom will take control of the state in the next four year might be delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The new development was revealed at the first virtual meeting of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with Pressmen

Naija news Understands that the meeting was to facilitate public debate on the impact of COVID-19 on elections with a view to harnessing citizen input into the INEC policy on elections in the context of COVID-19.

The National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye,  also stated Commission was determined to lead the process of innovation and creativity in the electoral process rather than throw in the towel and postpone all elections to an indeterminate period.

Okoye also added that Sometimes, unexpected situations, events and circumstances throw countries and nations off balance and present them with new situations and challenges that seems insurmountable.

INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, however, assured Nigerian of the Commissions continual determination to adopt and implement appropriate measures to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our electoral activities.
