APC, PDP Senators Disagree Over Electronic Transmission Of Election Results

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to direct the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 to open one airport per geopolitical zone.

The appeal was made by the House of Representatives, following a motion of urgent public importance moved by Muhammed Monguno, yesterday during plenary.

According to Monguno, the House needs to make recommendations due to reports that the Federal government plans to only reopen Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt Airports as part of the gradual easing of the COVID19 restriction.

Recall that NaijaNews reported that the federal government has noted that it plans to reopen only five airports from June 21, while the others remain closed for further assessment.

In his motion, Monguno noted that “most other countries have maintained local flights for essential services.” Adding that “shut down of the airport will affect businesses and lead to more unemployment.”

Several airlines have been laying down workers due to lack of business as a result of the shutdown of the airports. The lack of airports is making traveling difficult due to bad roads”

The House, therefore, mandated the House Committee on Aviation to ensure compliance.
