The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, has revealed that N-Power monitors will be paid within the next 72 hours.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Deputy Director of Information, Rhoda Iliya, the Minister stated that the payment process for March and April stipend was almost completed.

She added that the process for May payment was also on-going and would be concluded soon.

Sadiya Farouq said: “The delay for the payment was due to the change in Government Policy of migration from the REMITA platform system to the GIFMIS system of payment which requires offloading the beneficiaries into the new system before finally uploading, reviewing and final payment by the Social Investment Programme (SIP).

“I regret any inconveniences caused by this delay towards the payment of the monitors of N-Power, who have proven their mantle as patriotic Nigerians.

“I assure all beneficiaries that GIFMIS is already uploading beneficiaries into the system and hopefully within the next 72 hours, all beneficiaries will start to receive their alerts.”

Naija News reports that the N-Power scheme is a social intervention scheme introduced in 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari, as a two-year programme for graduate and non-graduate Nigerians between the ages of 18-35.

The beneficiaries enjoy N30, 000 monthly stipend, and devices during the duration of their stay in the scheme in exchange for services offered including teaching, agric extension services, health, etc.

N-Power has enrolled 500,000 beneficiaries.

200,000 from Batch A, which started in September 2016, and 300,000 from Batch B that kicked off in August 2018.
