COVID-19: Abdulrazaq Speaks On Re-Opening Of Religious Centres In Kwara State

The Kwara state government seems to be presently perplexed on what decision to take amidst pressure by some interested stakeholders calling for the opening of religious centres within the province.

Naija News understands that the sudden rise in the number of COVID-19 cases amidst calls to reopen the religious centres in the province has become a challenge Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman led administration.

However, in order to seek notable resolution, Kwara State Government has scheduled a meeting with the leadership of Christian and Muslim Communities Wednesday to fashion out the way forward on the proposed reopening of worship centres in the state.

The Spokesperson of the State Technical Committee on COVID-19 Rafiu Ajakaye, who made this known in Ilorin today stated the government will soon announce the modalities for relaxing the lockdown order on worship centres in the state.

Ajakaye added that the state government is willing to offer all the necessary cooperation to ease the setting up of the facility. Ajakaye also said that the government sincerely commends the patience and understanding of our religious and traditional rulers while urging them to actively join the sensitisation campaign about the virus.

He also called on the Federal Government to expedite action on setting up of at least a COVID-19 test centre in the state to strengthen the capacity to test more samples and urge people to come up for voluntary testing.
