Many footballers ‘contracts will expire in 30 days, so we’ve looked at some of the biggest names who will become free agents at the end of the month.

In the midst of uncertainty about the future of several players, with most of their contracts expected to end before the end of the 2019/20 campaign, it is not yet clear how the clubs will handle these situations.

The Bundesliga resumed in mid-May, with the aim of finishing its campaign before the end of June in order to avoid legal battles between clubs and players.

However, the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, as well as many other leagues around the world, will find themselves in grey areas with the 2019/20 season which might not be finished when the contracts of this players expire.

The Premier League has announced that clubs will be allowed to sign short-term deals with players whose offers will expire at the end of this month.

So far, however, few EPL teams have confirmed such deals, Chelsea duo Willian and Pedro Rodriguez, and David Silva of Manchester City are expected to become free agents after June 30.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agreement with AC Milan and the Naples contract with Dries Mertens will also expire in 30 days.

French clubs, however, do not have this problem because the league campaign was cancelled last month, Paris Saint-Germain being named the champions. PSG has not yet decided the future of Thomas Meunier, Layvin Kurzawa, Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani, but all four seem likely to leave the club in late June.
