Human rights activist and former Senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has reacted to the recent spate of killings in Katsina State.

Particularly, the former lawmaker blamed the government and security operatives for the renewed killings and general insecurity.

As previously reported by Naija News, unknown gunmen killed Alhaji Abdulhamid Sani, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed this in a statement in Katsina, saying that the incident happened at about 1:35 p.m on Sunday.

He was reportedly killed while struggling to escape from his abductors.

According to the report disclosed to newsmen by the State Police Command via its spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah, the deceased, Alhaji Abdulhamid Sani was attacked at his residence on Sunday, May 31 at Sabon-Garin Dumburawa, a community in the Batsari Local Government Area of the state.

Gambo said, “Today at about 1:35 p.m., unknown gunmen attacked Sabon-Garin Dumburawa in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“During the unfortunate incident, the bandits shot sporadically with sophisticated weapons, and killed the 55-year-old APC Chairman in Batsari local Government Area after he resisted being kidnapped.”

The District Head of Yantumaki in Yantumaki District of Danmusa Local Government Area, Katsina State, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Maidabino, was also murdered by armed bandits riding on motorcycles who invaded the traditional ruler’s residence around 12:00 am.

They were said to have killed him and injured his security guard, Gambo Chakau.

In his reaction to the killings, Sani tweeted on Monday: “The Killing of the Batsari APC chairman Abdulhamid Sani & the Murder of a District Head in Dutsen Ma Lg Alh Abubakar Atiku Maidabino, by bandits in Katsina State, few days after the massacre of tens of others once again reports the failure of the Government & the security agencies.”

Meanwhile, the State Police Command has revealed that men of the Operation Puff Adder and Sharan Daji have been deployed into the community and its environs to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.
