The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the discharge of Senator Ademola Adeleke by the Federal High Court, Abuja, on the allegations of examination malpractices levelled against him.

Naija News recalls that the charges against him were dismissed on Friday by Justice Inyang Ekwo.

Justice Ekwo in his ruling on Friday said he took the decision following the prosecution’s decision to withdraw charges against him.

The judge noted that the trial of the other four co-defendants in the case, who were re-arraigned on Thursday on a seven-count amended charge would however proceed.

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that the prosecuting counsel, Simon Loughtold the court on Thursday 28th May that they would want to discontinue the case against Adeleke.

He noted that the decision is based on Adeleke’s continued absence from court since the court granted him permission to embark on a medical trip abroad in May 2019 so that his absence would not continue to stall the case.

Reacting in a statement on Friday, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Hon Sunday Bisi, congratulated Senator Adeleke over the verdict of the court discharging and acquitting from all charges.

The statement read, “The PDP appeals to its members in the state to close ranks at all levels and build on the joyous feat achieved by the immediate past Senator of Osun West, to steady the ship of the party for the ultimate victory ahead.

“We appeal to Senator Ademola Adeleke not to be discouraged in his efforts at exposing and defeating all forces of evil, who out of collaborative greed, have resorted to mindless lies, wicked trickery and subterfuge to perpetuate their trade of looting the state to ground zero and subjecting the helpless populace to undue hardship while reducing the state to a laughing stock amongst its peers in the country.

“The victory is deserving and a pointer to the fact that no matter how long a lie travels, it will surely crash on the rock of truth and justice.”
