CNN Reporter, Omar Jimenez, Others Released From Police Custody

A few hours after Omar Jimenez, a reporter of Cable News Network, CNN, was arrested while reporting live by the Police, reports reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that the reporter has been released.

Naija News understands that the reporter was arrested while reporting live on the scene of the ongoing protests in Minneapolis, against the murder of George Floyd by a police officer in the region.

It could be recalled the George was reported dead on Monday, May 25 after he lost consciousness while a police officer knelt on his neck.

Protests against the incident has since then become serious as streets were taken over by concerned people who are seeking justice for the incident.

However, Omar who was taken away by the Police at about 6 a.m ET alongside his producer and a photojournalist while giving live reports have regained their freedom, Naija News confirmed.

The reason for their arrest, however, remains unclear as at the time of filing this report.

Naija News recalls that United States President, Donald Trump about a month ago accused CNN of spreading fake news.
