A fresh attack by bandits on four villages in Katsina State has resulted in the death of at least 13 persons.

The attack by the bandits also resulted in the injury to seven other persons, Naija News understands.

The bandits were said to have stormed Unguwar Gizo, Maigora, Sabon Layi and Mai Ruwa villages in Faskari local government area of Katsina state to rustle cattle but met resistance from the villagers.

The clash between the bandits and residents of the villages resulted in the deaths and injuries to some of the villagers as the bandits had superior weapons.

As I’m talking to you now this morning (Friday) we are holding the Janaza (funeral prayer) of 13 people killed,” a source quoted by Daily Trust said.

“Seven others are injured and at the hospital receiving treatment. “Another person was equally shot on his leg at Mai Ruwa” he added.

The attack was also confirmed by SP Gambo Isah, spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command who further warned the people to desist from confronting the bandits on their own because of the weapons possessed by the bandits.

He said: “Yes it is true; 13 were killed. “We keep telling people especially those at the front-line to avoid confrontation with these bandits because they are armed with AK guns and you can’t fight then with den guns and machetes.

“They came to rustle animals and the villages confronted them which made the bandits attacked,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Military has promised to sustain onslaughts against the bandits and other insurgents until they are completely eliminated.
