English Premier League player who plays as forward for Watford FC, Troy Deeney, has expressed his disappointment over a comment made by some football fans against his child.

The 31-year-old captain in a recent interview with the CNN Sport revealed that some persons have wished him in their comments that his son is found positive of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Naija News understands that the comments were made after Troy resolved not to resume training yet.

It could be recalled that Troy, among other players in the EPL, including Danny Rose, who plays as a defender for Newcastle United had previously condemned restarting the Premier League season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the league game which was suspended months ago due to the outbreak of the dreadful virus is set to be restarted as 20 clubs already agreed to resume training.

Reacting to the fan’s wish for Troy’s son, the Captain said, “I saw some comments in regards to my son, people saying: ‘I hope your son gets coronavirus’,”

“That is the hard part for me. If you respond to that, people then go: ‘Ah, we have got him’, and they keep doing it.

“In a time where it is all about mental health and everyone says ‘speak up, speak out, please speak’, Danny Rose spoke out, and I spoke out, and we get hammered and battered for it.

“So people see that and go ‘woah’, and it’s not just us that gets it, the missus gets direct messages, and you’ll be walking down the street, and people will be like: ‘Oh, I am at work, you go back to work.”
