Due to border closure, former Super Eagles forward who now plays for London club, Manchester United, Odion Ighalo may remain at Old Trafford with new teammates.

According to a report obtained by Naija News on Sky Sports, Shanghai Shenhua may be forced to allow the 30-year-old striker to remain with United due to the fact that foreign players have been restrained from entering China until October 2020.

Naija News understands that Ighalo was expected to return to his parent club in the coming week after his six months loan term might have ended with the United on Sunday, May 31.

The Chinese Super League’s current order on foreign players would, however, give way for further extension of terms between the two clubs.

Meanwhile, Ighalo’s agent, Ladi Salami has told Footmercato, that United is currently in talks with the Chinese club to keep the striker.

“On the one hand, the Super Eagle [Ighalo] feels very good in Manchester,” “Negotiations with the Chinese are ongoing and are going well.

“On the other hand, in view of the latest regulations in force in [China], it is almost impossible to offer such amounts.”
