Nigerian dancehall singer, Cynthia Morgan has been trending recently after revelations and allegations of what she went through with her former management.

Cynthia Morgan who now goes by the stage name Madrina, alleged that her stage name was taken away from her and that she no longer had access to her social media accounts following her exit from Northside Entertainment, a record label owned by Jude Okoye.

The dancehall singer also alleged that she lost all she had, including her name, VEVO account, and royalties after they had some issues centering on her contract.

However, Okoye dismissed Morgan’s claims in an Instagram live chat with Tunde Ednut, adding that he doesn’t have the right to take Cynthia Morgan’s name because it is her birth name.

The music producer also explained that Miss Morgan, who has been free since 2017, changed her name to ‘Madrina’ while still signed to his record label.

Though Okoye denied taking over her Instagram and Twitter accounts, he, however, admitted that he took over her VEVO account, adding that it was a means of recovering over N40m he spent on her.

The music producer cum director further stated that he paid Cynthia Morgan’s house rent, bought her a Range Rover and even gave her money to buy land for her mother in Benin, Edo State.

In the heat of the discussion with Tunde Ednut, Jude Okoye promised to release copies of the contract Cynthia Morgan signed in 2013 with his Northside Entertainment, which he has now done as previously reported by Naija News.

Following the release of the documents and the backlash by Nigerians over the revelations, some Nigerians took to their Twitter page accusing Morgan of being a ‘clout chaser’.

However, Morgan in an Instagram session on Tuesday night, responded that she did not reveal her past to gain sympathy.

She added that she can make peace with Okoye but can’t do the same with her former manager, Joy Thongo.

“I did not talk about Jude Okoye and my past because I want sympathy from Nigerians.

“People saying I came out because of sympathy are wrong, this thing happened four years ago. If I wanted sympathy I would have changed my name back then and come out crying,” she said.

“The agreement with Okoye was like a loan, If he invested N50m in me, I was to pay back that N50m before we started sharing 50/50 formula from the music or video.”

She added that the major thing is to move on with her life.

“I can meet up with Okoye and settle the differences but never with Joy Thongo. Joy has no right to say all she said because she used me and I feel she also used Jude.

“I can make peace with him but no Thongo. The important thing now is to move on and make music.”
