One Dead, Many Injured And Property Destroyed As Fire Ravages IDP Camp In Borno (Photos)

A fire outbreak that occurred at the Muna Albadawy Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Borno state has resulted in the loss of a life.

Many households were displaced as a result of the fire, other people injured while several belongings were also destroyed in the inferno.

Naija News understands the fire occurred late on Saturday, 23rd May.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the fire started from one of the kitchens in the emergency shelters erected in the camp and 1,613 houseHolds have now been displaced as a result of the fire outbreak.

Meanwhile, NEMA and other partners have responded to the fire incident at the IDP camp by providing relief items to those affected. The relief items include water support, foodstuffs, and basic household items.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajia Sadiya Farouq has also commiserated with the victims of the campfire incident and also commended NEMA and other stakeholders for their swift intervention.
