JUST IN: El-Rufai Lifts Curfew In All 23 LGAs In Kaduna

Governor Nasir El-Rufai‘s government of Kaduna State has warned the Congress of Health Workers Unions and Associations in the State against their planned strike, noting that it is not shaking by the threat.

Naija News understands that the Congress of Health Workers Unions and Associations in the state had earlier demanded the government to refund 25 per cent of their salaries that were slashed and also the provision of Personal Protective Equipments, threatening to embark on strike should the government fail to respond positively to their demand.

The State government has, however, introduced a register to be duly signed by those still interested in working with the government despite the salary-cut.

Reacting to the strike threat, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Communications, Muyiwa Adekeye in a statement noted that the state government can not be pressured to accord special status to health workers in the state amongst other public servants.

The state government noted in its statement that it rejects the strike threat, warning that anyone who failed to show up at their duty posts will be considered out of the service.

“Every health worker that is willing to work is required to sign the register at the Ministry of Health and the health institutions to which they are deployed,” the statement noted.

It further ensures the safety of staffs who are still interested in retaining their work, adding that it would keep its health facilities running.

“The Ministry of Health has been directed to ensure that health facilities run and provide services to the public, with the support of willing workers who must be offered every assistance and protection,” the state government noted.

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that ten members of a family in Kaduna State have tested positive for Coronavirus.

The State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai revealed this in a tweet on Thursday that eighteen positive cases have been confirmed in the state and ten are members of the same family.
