2023: Boss Mustapha Emerges On List Of Recommendations To Become Tinubu's Running Mate

Boss Gida Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, has kicked against self-medication.

In a statement on Thursday, SGF Mustapha condemned the purchase of hydroxychloroquine in large quantities by Nigerians to treat COVID-19.

According to Mustapha, the drug has not been certified for use in treating COVID-19 in Nigeria by the relevant health and pharmaceutical authorities.

He said: “Self-medication of any kind is fraught with the danger of increasing risks of avoidable casualties. If you are sick, please seek medical advice and if you are confirmed positive, kindly self-isolate in an approved facility.”

Naija News reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night confirmed three hundred and thirty-nine new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

The agency in a post on their official Twitter account confirmed the new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 7016.

Meanwhile, 1907 patients have been discharged, while 211 deaths have been recorded in the country.
