Covid-19: I’m Trying To Save You – Ganduje Tells Kano Residents

Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has promised people of his state that he is doing everything humanly possible to alleviate the suffering of the people.

This he said, while delivering an address when he met with religious leaders in Kano today.

Governor Ganduje had as the religious leaders to reckon with the fact that the pandemic has come along with the introduction of some restrictions, which are temporary and necessary to save lives.

“There are a lot of difficulties that have come with measures being taken to fight the virus. But, indeed it is only through them that we can save lives and stop the spread of the virus.

“However, we have given windows in the lockdown to allow people attend to both economic and religious dealings on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays but with total restrictions and observance of the preventive protocols that include social distancing, use of facemasks, washing of hands and use of sanitizers,” Ganduje stated.

He urged Imams who have been granted permission to conduct Friday prayers and the Eid prayer to ensure that social distancing and the use of facemasks are strictly adhered to in the mosques.

“I call on all Imams to strictly observe spacing and social distancing in the mosques. It is not an innovation or addition to the religion but a necessity that comes along with the pandemic. We shall return to the usual methods in the aftermath of the pandemic.”

Ganduje called on religious leaders, Muslims and Christians alike to cooperate with the state government in the fight against COVID-19.
