COVID-19: Nigeria Records 216 New Cases of Coronavirus

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Monday night reports two hundred and sixteen new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

This brings total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria to 6175.

WHO Begins Trial For COVID-19 Drug In Nigeria

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has revealed that it has commenced the solidarity trial for a drug to treat the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

This was made known by Fiona Braka, the officer in charge of WHO in Nigeria, during a joint national briefing of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Naija News reports that Braka stated that the test was still in the early stages.

She, however, noted that the process has not commenced in all states in Nigeria.

No Presidential Broadcast On Coronavirus From Buhari Today

No Presidential broadcast on Coronavirus from President Muhammadu Buhari today, the Presidency has said.

Naija News reports that the Presidency debunked reports that President Buhari would be making a media broadcast today on the next phase of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ease in the country.

This online news platform recalls that the National Coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, had said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics that President Buhari would address Nigerians in a national broadcast over the coronavirus pandemic today.

However, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, denied  Sani’s claim, saying no presidential broadcast was planned today and that whatever update was available would be passed on by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) during its usual briefings.

President Buhari Takes Fresh Decision On Relaxation Of COVID-19 Total Lockdown

President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians that the country is not ripe for the total relaxation of lockdown imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

To this end, the President has directed the extension of the first phase of the eased lockdown measure by another two weeks.

This development was made public by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the COVID-19 Pandemic, Boss Mustapha, during Monday’s daily press briefing by the task force.
