Buhari Makes New Appointments, Seeks Senate Approval

President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the confirmation of Professor Jumai Audi, as the chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission (NLRC).

Senate President Ahmad Lawan made this known on Tuesday while reading a letter from Buhari during plenary.

President Buhari noted that his request was in compliance with the provision of section 2(2) of the NLRC in Law Reform Commission Act No. 7.

Others names listed for confirmation include: Hon. Ebele Bernard Chima, Commissioner, South-East; Barr. Bassey Dan Abia, Commissioner, South-South; and Hon. Mohammed Ibraheem, Commissioner, South-West.

Buhari also asked the upper legislative chambers to confirm Diana Okonta (South-South); and Ya’ana Talib Yaro (North-East) as Non-Executive Directors of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

The appointment was done in compliance with the provision of section 5(2)(4) of the NDIC Act.

Senator Lawan referred the confirmation request to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Financial Institutions.
